As a groom-to-be popping the big question to your love one is tough enough, let alone having to show one of your guy friends your sensitive side. As a groom-to-be, you will be faced with many complicated decisions to make along the way, choosing the right man to stand up for you the day of your wedding may likely be a bit uncomfortable but never the less should be taken as an honor to the person being asked.

The person chosen is often a brother or a friend; he should be someone that has been an important part of your life. This person should also be able to hold his own and be responsible enough for the tasks ahead.

Asking the question

Asking this person to be your best man sometimes seems complicated and is commonly held off till the last minute but, once you have it figured out, you need to approach that person and express how much it would mean to you for him to partake in such an important way at your wedding. There are many ways in which this question could be asked. Asking the question socially as pals is one such ways that is used by most men.

Guys share this special bond like brothers. Sensitive conversations are not often held and so, popping a question like this can become an awkward situation for both parties. The lack of emotional expression between men is common cause for this type of behavior especially when it comes to expressing something that is of such sensitive nature and may require some type of emotion in order to be taken sincerely.

If you are one of the more confident guys who’s approach may be more on the level of simply instructing your quiet friend that he is to take the part as your best man, then you may not have any worries. But if you find yourself struggling with the right words, consider asking your friend how he would feel about taking part in that way. You may find this approach less intimidating. Keep in mind that the person you are asking (if previously aware of your engagement) may be expecting you to, after all you are best buddies, whom else would you ask to be your right hand support at your wedding. Keeping this in mind may also make the question much easier and may be addressed in a rather jokingly macho sort of way.

Once your best man is aware of his position, be sure to inform him of all the things he may be responsible for doing. Remember that he is an honor attendant so, include him in small areas and allow him to assist in areas that he wants to. This will be an experience that will forever seal the relationship as much more than close personal friends but rather as brothers. This person will always be someone you will feel that you can depend on for support in almost anything as your relationships grows to new levels of trust, support, loyalty and respect.
